Dr Philip Jonsson
Dr Jonsson is a Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeon with special interests in the fields of Head and Neck Oncology, Orthognathic Surgery and Reconstruction. He believes a team approach plays an integral part in providing optimal patient care. He therefore surrounds himself with a team that shares his vision and passion for the field of Maxillofacial Surgery.
It’s his goal to utilize the latest technology to ensure precise and accurate surgery, and provide patients with the best possible results.
Aesthetic Medicine
Dr Edward Jonsson
BSc (Stell) MBA (Stell) MBChB (Stell)
Accomplished, knowledgeable and versatile Health Care Professional. Dr Edward Jonsson graduated from Stellenbosch University – Medical School, whereafter he did his Internship at 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg. He went on to due his community service at primary health care level at Mfuleni CHC and Eerste River Hospital, where his focus was Emergency and Clinical medicine.
Dr E Jonsson has developed a special interest in Aesthetic medicine and have completed a course in botox and fillers with Dr Alec Nikolic in Wynberg Cape Town.
He is a dedicated and goal orientated individual, who always strives to learn more and to deliver more than is expected. He believes in staying on the cutting edge of technology and medical advances.
He will be joining the team, where he will be involved in aesthetic medical procedures such as botox, fillers and hair transplants using one of the latest robotic hair transplant systems.
Periodontologist
Dr Johan Ackhurst
Dr Johan Ackhurst is a born and bred product of the Garden Route, moving to Cape Town to pursue his academic career. Dr Ackhurst completed his BChD in General Dentistry in 2010 at the University of the Western Cape.
Due to his specific interest in oral rehabilitation, he went on to complete his Diploma in Oral and Dento-Alveolar Surgery at the University of the Western Cape, supplemented with a residency in Prosthetic Rehabilitation.
Dr Ackhurst then took up residency and completed his Master of Advanced Dentistry in Periodontology and Implantology –Cum Laude from the prestigious Ghent University in Belgium.
Dr Ackhurst is involved in the application of digital and guided surgical technology and is also a recognized clinical instructor for the foundation of dynamically guided surgery.
Currently Dr Ackhurst is active as a Clinical Specialist in a multidisciplinary referral practice, combined with corporate consulting in Belgium.
Dr Ackhurst will be joining the practice from time to time to give his perspective on the prosthethic rehabilitation following major reconstructive surgeries and other full mouth rehabilitations. He will also be involved in the digital and guided surgical planning for cases done by Drs Jonsson and Du Preez.
Anathetist
Dr Alae Conradie
Dr Conradie grew up in Stellenbosch and matriculated as dux scholar from Bloemhof Girls’ High School in 2005. She continued her education at the University of Stellenbosch where she graduated MBChB cum laude in 2011, receiving multiple academic awards, including the US Rector’s Award for Academic Excellence.
Dr Conradie completed her internship years at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital before completing her community service and additional medical officer training at Kimberley Hospital in the departments of Anaesthesiology and Internal Medicine. She obtained the Diploma in Anaesthesiology (DA) during this time.
Dr Conradie joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine in 2015 where she excelled in all spheres. She was the elected departmental registrar representative for 2016 and 2017. Distinction was awarded for her Masters in Medicine (MMed) dissertation titled ‘Barriers to clinical research in Africa; a quantitative and qualitative survey of clinical researchers in 27 African countries’. This work earned her a first author publication in the prestigious British Journal of Anaesthesia in October 2018 as well as the UCT departmental research prize. She completed the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists of South Africa degree in 2019 with distinction.
Dr Conradie is interested in all fields of anaesthesia, with particular interest in Perioperative Medicine, Obstetric-, ENT-, Maxillofacial- and Orthopaedic Anaesthesia.
Alae is married to Dr Darryl Boy, a specialist physician sub-specialising in Pulmonology. They recently became proud parents to their daughter Avery, much to the dismay of their Golden Retrievers. She is fluent in Afrikaans, English and German; enjoys traveling, reading a good book and spending time outdoors with her loved ones.
Dr Conradie will be our Specialist Anaethetist for most cases done under General Anaesthesia and Sedation.
Practice Manager
Fiona Nel
Fiona Nel grew up in Cape Town South Africa and is a practice manager for Dr Philip Jonsson.
She matriculated in 2005 and pursued one of her many passions in 2006 when she joined Beautiko, one of the leading schools in the Health and Skincare industry. She completed her studies in 2007 with three national and three international diplomas and started working and managing spas in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
In 2010 Fiona decided to chase her dreams of travel and adventure and started working for Steiner International, onboard Princess Cruises. For two years she worked as a body electrical and detox specialist promoting healthy living. She held seminars on the adverse effects of medications, toxins, and unhealthy eating on the body and educated people on health and positive life changes.
Fiona enjoys working with people from all walks of life and helping them on their road to health and wellbeing. Fiona has a curious mind and is continuously learning and improving herself through online studies, reading and research. She is currently busy with a diploma in psychology and learning French.
Fiona is a passionate individual who enjoys spending time with family, friends, and animals. Her interests include dermatology, psychology, and holistic therapy. She enjoys good food, wine, and music. Her hobbies include reading, dancing, travelling, photography, and make-up.
Oral Hygienist/ Surgical Assitant
Lara Joubert
Lara Joubert is a Oral hygienist and surgical assistant that obtained her BOH (Bachelor of Oral Health) from the University of Western Cape in 2016. She is passionate about implantology and finds the link between surgical intervention and oral health prevention, key. She also enjoys running, hiking and the outdoors.

Dr Juan Bester
As a board-certified Cosmetic Dentist and Aesthetic Physician, Dr. Juan has dedicated most of his adult life in serving others in a very unique and uplifting way. He believes everybody is unique and beautiful in their own way.
In 2011 Dr. Juan furthered his education in Medical Aesthetics with uninterrupted progress and commitment in the field. Continuous education ensured he is at the forefront of technology and patient safety.
Dr. Juan has travelled extensively, learning from the best in his field. He has worked in some of the exclusive locations around the globe, providing his expertise to a select few elite clientele.
Dr. Juan focusses his interests on medical facial rejuvenation, sculpting, profile balancing and beautification procedures. He prides himself in his signature full face transformations which leave his patients completely transformed.
His gentle nature, perfectionism and artistic flare sets him apart when it comes to patient care and management.
